Is Hemp Legal? YES!
Hemp is now legal in all 50 states. 🙂 Just this summer (2018), The US Senate voted 86 – 11 to legalize hemp in all 50 states!
Hemp is the non-psychoactive cannabis cousin of marijuana. You cannot get high from using hemp or CBD. In April 2018, Sen. Mitch McConnell penned a bill that would remove non-psychoactive cannabis varieties known as hemp from the Controlled Substances Act.
FDA says CBD doesn’t qualify as DEA scheduled substance
According to a letter that was released in early October 2018, the FDA suggests that CBD does not meet the criteria for a federally controlled drug.
The FDA wrote in a report to the DEA, “CBD and its salts… do not have a significant potential for abuse and could be removed from the [Controlled Substances Act].”
In addition, Democratic senator, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, stated that”It’s past time that we move beyond these outdated and frustrating restrictions on hemp farming in the United States. If we’re selling hemp products in the United States, we should be growing hemp in the United States – it’s good for jobs, good for our communities, and it’s just common sense.”
The president of Vote Hemp, Eric Steenstra, said in a statement recently that this new bill “will finally remove the federal roadblocks holding back the industry and help to create jobs in farming and manufacturing.” “The Hemp Farming Act of 2018 is landmark legislation that will be remembered as the key element which finally allowed the hemp industry to flourish in the U.S.”
What do you think? Should it be legalized in the US? Or are we just being ‘sticks in the mud’?
